The Yatra is a 9000 km train journey that puts 20-25 year olds in direct contact with successful entrepreneurs who have created a significant impact in their community. By showcasing these role models, the Yatra seeks to demonstrate the power of enterprise in delivering social benefit, employment creation and raising standards of living. Moreover, through the personal stories of these role models, the Yatra intends to inspire the next generation to take up enterprise early in their career. I'll be explaining the experience as a yatri, I can assure you that this will be worth listening... :)

    Machine translation refers to automatically (programmatically) translating text from one language to another. Given a sentence in English to be translated to Malayalam, the first thing that would come to mind would be to tag the various words in the source sentence as verb, adjective, adverb etc, and then creating something like a parse tree. But, statistical machine translation is a piece of magic that does not do any of these. Given some sentences in English and their corresponding Malayalam translations, it builds a probabilistic model that would enable translating new English sentences. To make it clearer, the technique does not know that "Kerala" is a noun, "belong" is a verb, and for that matter anything about the usage of words in the text. This talk would introduce the fundamentals of this technique starting from the very basics (assuming no background knowledge) using examples and the target is to equip the attendee with enough knowledge to build a very small working statistical machine translation system himself/herself. Statistical Machine Translation is by far the most widely used translation technique, and is the basis of state-of-the-art systems like Google Translate.

Apart from that, there are other standards and technologies which have been grouped as HTML5, but are not part of the HTML5 specification. Yet they are exciting technologies, and I'll showcase them as well. Apart from that, I'll also introduce you to the new developments in CSS3, and what all modern browsers are supporting right now. We'll also take a look at what faster JavaScript engines mean for the Web. Almost all things I introduce or explain, will be accompanied by live demos of those standards/technologies.
